Best of Outright Weekly Roundup: Sales Holidays Edition

The three big sales holidays are rushing up – are you ready for them? You shouldn’t just concentrate on Black Friday as it could be losing you big money! Also, who is the new benefactor for small businesses? All this and much more in this week’s round-up!

Small Business News of the Week

Small businesses are getting help from an unexpected area: big businesses! Possibly sensing that yes, small businesses are what drives commerce, companies like Wal-Mart, Starbucks, and the Boston Beer Company are reaching out to local communities to offer ways to boost small business.

It’s not just money, though, as that would be a temporary fix. The Boston Beer Company offers “speed coaching” by owner Jim Koch, who feels very passionately about helping out the little guys. After all, he was a little guy himself before beers like Sam Adams became so popular.

Perhaps this is a brand new relationship between big businesses and mom & pop stores that just need a little break or some direction. In the end, when it comes to commerce and the economy, we are all in this together, trying to bring the country back to a solid foundation!

Outright Pro Tip: Sales Holidays

Sure, Black Friday gets all the news, but what about Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday? Those two sales holidays are just as big of a deal (if not more so, depending on your store) and can lead to tons of dollars in your bank account.

Are you ready for them? If you’ve been concentrating on Black Friday sales you may be missing out on huge opportunities elsewhere. For instance, if your store is all ecommerce based, Cyber Monday may end up being a way better opportunity to make money. More and more consumers are skipping the long lines and major headaches of Black Friday to shop online the Monday after, and that’s where your store comes in.

Think of ways you can rope folks in on one of the two other sales holidays. Perhaps a banner proclaiming how much more amazing your Cyber Monday sales are compared to all the Black Friday deals out there. Also make sure to focus on the benefits of each holiday – for example, Small Business Saturday is all about promoting the little guys out there versus hitting up the megastores.

That’s it for this week’s Round-Up! Have a fun Thanksgiving!
